So, you’re planning to have your wedding in Bali, looking for a professional photographer to capture your special wedding moments, and you’ve decided that Bali is the perfect place to get married – that’s great news! One of the biggest decisions to make when planning your wedding in Bali, is when? You want your closest family and friends to come, as well as the best weather and best value for money when it comes to a perfect wedding venue in Bali.

FIRST THINGS FIRST…

The first thing to consider is the season. As one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, Bali has a variety of seasons. This includes the peak and low seasons (almost all accommodation in Bali, including wedding venues, increase their prices during the peak season due to the influx of tourists headed on their overseas travels) or the school holidays season (check your guest list – if you have many families with kids, this season might be worth taking into consideration), or even the dry and wet seasons for obvious weather reasons. That’s not even all the seasons that Bali has! Which is what makes planning a wedding in Bali become very interesting. Keep reading.

YOU MIGHT THEN BE ASKING… WHEN IS THE BUSIEST TIME OF THE YEAR IN BALI? GOOD QUESTION!

The busiest times of year in Bali are August (1st Aug – 31st Aug), as well as Christmas and New Years (20th Dec – 4th Jan). During these times, prices are at their highest and if you are budget conscious, these might not be the best times to get married in Bali. School holidays are also an expensive time to fly to Bali, so this is worth keeping in mind when finalising the date.

WHAT’S THE BEST MONTH TO HAVE AN OUTDOOR WEDDING IN BALI? THINK AUGUST.

If you have your heart set on August, which is the middle of the Dry season (a time when it’s least likely to rain), expect traffic delays due to the influx of European and Indonesian tourists (from other islands) converging on Bali at this time of year. Everyone loves summer in Bali, so it’s not surprising! Keep in mind, staying on top of sourcing enough hotel rooms to accommodate all of your guests during this great month in Bali, is key.

OTHER GREAT MONTHS FOR A WEDDING IN BALI…

However, if you decide that May, June, July, September or October are just as good, then you may find that bookings and finding availabilities become a lot easier. These months are still dry and warm during the day (cooler at night), which is still perfect for a wedding or event in Bali. Also, on these months, most of the wedding venues sell at their normal rates.

DRUMROLL… THE CHOICE IS YOURS!

This brings us to one last decision – Do I get married in the dry season or the wet season? I definitely recommend the dry season, as the rain (even though it’s considered lucky if it rains on your wedding day) can certainly put a damper on things, especially when accompanied by thunder and lightening (as it commonly is) – unless you have a flair for the dramatic!

SIDE NOTE: If you do opt for the wet season for your wedding in Bali, ensure you have a backup plan for a rainy day, just to be safe, especially if you’re planning to have your wedding ceremony or reception outdoors. Most venues are more than happy to help in providing details for a backup plan, just in case.
